CAN I REPLACE MY LAPTOP SCREEN?

Whether or not you can replace your own Laptop LCD Screen depends on a few factors such as whether or not you can find the right part from a vendor you trust. Also factor in your own level of technical skill in relation to the degree of difficulty in performing the replacement of your broken laptop screen based on your make and model of your laptop. As a rule of thumb, if you are good at building radio control models and working on household electronics this may be a job you can do yourself. If you are not a patient person STOP RIGHT NOW, this is not for you.

In general, if you have a newer Apple Laptop or a super thin laptop, the repair is very difficult. In fact, most Laptop Repair Centers have trouble replacing the screens in these laptops. Laptop LCD Screen San Diego can replace the broken laptop screen in your Apple Laptop or any other laptop, for that matter. Really, it is no problem, we can fix anything!

FINDING THE RIGHT PART NUMBER.

While it may SEEM simple, ordering the right laptop LCD screen is often where things go wrong. There are thousands of laptop screens, and many laptops were originally sold with multiple screen options, but will ultimately work with only the correct part number.

The only way to be sure that you are ordering the correct laptop screen is to disassemble the top half of the laptop and identify the correct part number on the back of the screen. To clarify, the part number will not be on the of your laptop, it will be on the back of the LCD and is only visible when the top half of the laptop is taken apart.

DISCLAIMER: It is NOT recommended that any person ever attempt to disassemble their own laptop for any reason at any time. If you are afraid that you may electrocute yourself, stop immediately or you could be seriously injured or even KILLED.

DISASSMBLING THE LAPTOP

The first step a technician takes in disassembling a laptop is to make sure that he has the right tools.

Replacing a Laptop screen the first time often takes a few hours from beginning to end. With practice, the repair can be accomplished more quickly.

TOOLS YOU MAY NEED:

-- Dental Pick
-- Appropriate Mechanical Fastener Tool
-- Fastener Holding Tray with Labels

CHOOSING AN OPERATING ROOM

Make sure to choose a place where a tiny screw will not be lost if dropped.

GETTING STARTED

Unplug the laptop and remove the battery. Press the power button for several seconds to discharge any electricity that may still be in the laptop.

Using a Dental Pick, find and remove any screw covers that may be hiding screws, and keep them in a safe place.

Using a Dental Pick, carefully release all of the plastic tabs that are keeping the top half of the screen assembly together. BE CAREFUL NOT TO BREAK OR SCRATCH ANYTHING.

Once the laptop is disassembled and the laptop LCD screen is removed, there are several numbers on the back of the screen. One of those numbers is the part number.

Now comes the tricky part!

BUYING THE LAPTOP LCD

Most Laptop LCD Screens can be found on the internet, but it is not always clear if the vendor is reputable or not. Some vendors sell laptop screens as NEW, even though they know that the part is actually used. By the time the part arrives and is installed it is often to late too complain about a small scratch or a few dead pixels.

Once your screen arrives, it is time to take out the old screen and install the new one.

REMOVING THE LAPTOP SCREEN

Keep in mind that the laptop should remain unplugged for this entire process.

Remove all of the screws in the right order and keep track of exactly where they go, since you are going to have to put them back.

Remove the laptop LCD screen, and be sure not to damage the extremely delicate ribbon cable or power cable.

PUTTING IT BACK TOGETHER

Install the new LCD screen.

Put everything back together.

Test the new LCD screen.

I had a computer repair emergency on a Sunday. I was desperate because almost all repair shops were closed on the weekends (banker hours). I found your repair facility on the internet and lo and behold they were open on the weekend. The kind gentleman working that day sold me a new ac-adapter which solved my emergency, and I was back in action.

Thank You,

My Toshiba laptop had a cracked screen, so I called Toshiba to get pricing and was told a new screen replacement is about $600. That's crazy considering that my laptop was not even worth that much. Luckily I was referred to Jim and he replaced my screen in 1 day for less than $200. This was a good thing because I found a great repair shop, saved some money, and was able to help a local business.

Your honesty paid off! I feel that I've been ripped off in the past by different repair places (auto, computer, appliance, vet, plummer) so it was refreshing to find your business. Obviously I was skeptical when I brought you my dead PC, but you relieved all my fears after just reconnecting a loose wire and cleaning my unit for cheap. I had no idea what was wrong so you could have made up a bunch of bogus charges, but you were honest and fair. Now you got a lifetime customer.

Sincerely,

I just wanted to send you a quick note expressing my gratitude for all your assistance on my daughters behalf. Being a student in a new city was very intimating for Sara, so when her laptop went down she was very stressed. After calling Jim at your shop, he eased my mind, and told me they would take care of everything. Long story short, you guys fixed her computer quickly and correctly. She's happy, so I'm happy. Thanks again.
